The Weepies

 If you’ve watched TV at all in the past few months, you’ve probably noticed some cool commercials from JC Penny with great music in the background. A recent Christmas commercial had a scene with this band singing a beautiful Christmas song called “All That I Want.”
Until this commercial, this group, named “The Weepies,” had been off the radar of the major Indie music scene. They are definitely on the radar now.
Band members Deb Talan and Steve Tannen, say they were fans of each other before they met at a concert in Boston. At that first meeting they started writing music together and soon after formed The Weepies, folk rock group based around the beautiful singing of both Talan and Tannen.
Their first CD, Happiness, was released in 2003, and “All That I Want” came from that album. In 2006, The Weepies released a studio album, Say I Am You, and an album that is only available on iTunes, Live Session EP.
It requires a major internet search to find the name of “that band from the tv commercial,” and unfortunately it’s hard to find their music at most music stores. However, it is worth the time it takes to find the music of The Weepies – a great band with a great sound.
