Lost and Found
by Andrew Baker
Genre: Folk/Punk
Label: Limb Records
Hometown: New York and Los Angeles
Lost and Found is not the typical independent band. They have 13 albums with names like This, Something, and Our Third Album, and yet they have no interest in signing with a major record label. Their music is also almost impossible to find on YouTube, but they still have a huge following.
Michael Bridges and George Baum, who are the original members of the band, found success by playing one church and one album at a time and counting on word-of-mouth to do the rest. Their manager said they have never sought a record label that will put them on a glitzy tour.
They’ve been touring together since their first tour in 1986 that took them across the country by bicycle, and they’ve been playing music together since they both were 14. They sell their own merchandise at concerts and they always connect with their audience through their music.

Lost and Found has style of playing that doesn’t really fit into a genre. They call their music “speedwood,” which they say is a mix between the Ramones (punk) and Bob Denver (folk). They won the1998 John Lennon Songwriting Award in the Gospel/Inspirational Category for their song “Lions.”
