On October 4th, 2007, it was announced that Fred Mascherino had broken away from his band Taking Back Sunday to pursue a solo career.  The result of the split was the official start of Fred’s new band, The Color Fred.  And the band’s debut CD, Bend To Break, was released on October 30th through the Indie label, Equal Vision Records.

Mascherino played his first gig as The Color Fred in January, 2005, and considered it his “side project.”  A classically trained musician with a degree in Jazz Guitar from Temple University,  Mascherino plays all the bass and guitar parts on the debut album.  The Color Fred is currently on tour supporting the new album. 

If you’re a fan of the band, don’t consider this the end of Taking Back Sunday.  In the announcement from the band that Fred was leaving, they also announced that they are in the early stages of a new album.
